Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

Speak Your Mind is operated by Hsieh Jen Ting, an individual operator based in Taiwan, under the name That Language Guy ("That Language Guy," "we," "us," or "our").

For privacy questions or requests, contact:

[email protected]

This Privacy Policy applies to the Speak Your Mind application and the That Language Guy website and related pages that link to this policy (together, the "Service").

2. Information We Collect

Account information

When you sign in with Google, we receive information needed to create and manage your account, such as your email address, account identifier, and basic profile information made available through Google and our authentication provider.

Content you submit

We process the text you enter when asking Speak Your Mind to help you express an idea. That text is sent to our AI service provider to generate the requested language-learning output.

If you choose to save an output, we store the original input, generated output, language, feature type, and related timestamps in your saved history. Saving is optional. You can delete individual saved items or clear your saved history in the app.

Please do not enter passwords, payment-card information, government identification numbers, medical records, or other highly sensitive personal information into the generation box.

Usage and subscription information

We keep information needed to operate account limits and subscriptions, such as your plan, generation allowance, number of generations used, request status, and relevant timestamps.

When paid subscriptions are available, Lemon Squeezy will process checkout and payment information as the merchant of record. We expect to receive information needed to provide your subscription, such as transaction, subscription, product, payment-status, and customer contact details. We do not intend to receive or store your full payment-card number.

Technical and security information

We and our service providers may automatically process technical information such as IP address, browser and device information, request times, server logs, and security or rate-limit records. We use this information to deliver the Service, prevent abuse, diagnose problems, and protect accounts.

Website forms and communications

If you contact us, we receive the information you provide and use it to answer your request. Our website may also let you voluntarily subscribe to emails containing Speak Your Mind product updates and language-learning tips based on the creator's teaching and language-learning experience. We will send these emails only when you actively choose to subscribe. You may withdraw your consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in an email or contacting us. The newsletter subscription feature is not currently active and will not collect subscriptions until it has been properly configured.

Information stored on your device

The Service may use browser storage to remember settings and temporary app state, such as your selected language, current input and output, text-to-speech preferences, and saved-history migration status. You can remove this information by clearing site data in your browser, although doing so may reset your preferences or sign you out.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • provide, maintain, and improve the Service;
  • authenticate users and secure accounts;
  • generate language-learning content and display saved items;
  • manage free and paid usage limits and subscriptions;
  • provide customer support and respond to requests;
  • send communications you requested;
  • detect fraud, abuse, security incidents, and technical failures;
  • comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms; and
  • understand general service performance without selling personal information or using it for targeted advertising.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process information as needed to perform our contract with you, pursue legitimate interests in operating and protecting the Service, comply with law, or act with your consent.

4. AI Processing

Speak Your Mind uses OpenAI's API to generate learning content. The text you submit and the instructions needed to generate an answer are sent to OpenAI. Your Google account identity is not intentionally included in the generation prompt.

OpenAI states that data sent through its API is not used to train its models unless the customer chooses to opt in. OpenAI may retain API content and related records for service operation, safety, and abuse monitoring according to its current API settings and policies.

AI-generated content can occasionally be incomplete or incorrect. Avoid submitting information that you would not want processed by an external AI provider.

5. When We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information.

We share information only as reasonably needed with service providers that help us operate the Service, including:

  • Google, for sign-in;
  • Supabase, for authentication, database storage, and account-related records;
  • OpenAI, for AI-generated language-learning content;
  • Railway, for application hosting and server operation;
  • GoPlus and its underlying service providers, for website pages, forms, and communications; and
  • Lemon Squeezy, when paid subscriptions are enabled, for checkout, payments, tax handling, fraud prevention, and subscription administration.

These providers process information under their own terms and privacy obligations. Some may act as our processors, while Lemon Squeezy may also process information independently in its role as merchant of record.

We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal requests, protect users or the Service, investigate fraud or security issues, or support a reorganization or transfer of the Service. If ownership changes, personal information may be transferred subject to appropriate notice and safeguards.

6. International Processing

We are based in Taiwan, and our service providers may process information in other countries. Those countries may have privacy laws different from the laws where you live. Where required, we will rely on appropriate contractual or legal safeguards for international transfers.

7. How Long We Keep Information

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including providing the Service, maintaining security and accounting records, resolving disputes, and meeting legal obligations.

In general:

  • account information is kept while your account remains active and for a reasonable period afterward;
  • saved inputs and outputs remain until you delete them or request account deletion, subject to limited backup or legal retention;
  • usage, quota, transaction, security, and server records are kept for as long as needed to operate and protect the Service or comply with law;
  • website inquiries and support messages are kept while needed to respond and maintain appropriate business records; and
  • information stored in your browser remains until the Service replaces it or you clear your browser's site data.

Our service providers may retain information under their own documented retention schedules.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect personal information. These measures include account authentication, access controls, encrypted network connections, and database rules designed to keep each user's saved content separate. No online service can guarantee complete security.

9. Your Choices and Privacy Rights

You can:

  • choose not to save generated content;
  • delete individual saved items or clear saved history in the app;
  • unsubscribe from marketing emails;
  • clear browser-stored app data through your browser settings; and
  • request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by emailing [email protected].

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, including the right to object to or restrict certain processing, withdraw consent, receive a copy of certain information, or complain to a data-protection authority. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. Some information may be retained where required by law or needed for security, fraud prevention, billing, or dispute resolution.

10. Children and Teenagers

Speak Your Mind is intended for users aged 16 or older. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, you may use the Service only with permission from a parent or legal guardian. Paid subscriptions must be purchased by an adult or with authorization from the payment-account holder.

The Service is not directed to children under 13. If we learn that we collected personal information from a child under 13 in circumstances where we should not have done so, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

11. Cookies and Similar Technologies

The Service and its providers may use cookies, browser storage, and similar technologies that are necessary for sign-in, security, preferences, core operation, and basic website performance measurement. Our GoPlus tracking fields are currently empty: we have not configured Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Meta/Facebook Pixel, or other custom advertising or analytics scripts. GoPlus, LeadConnector, Cloudflare, and other infrastructure providers may still process basic technical and performance information when they deliver the website.

We do not currently use personal information for third-party targeted advertising. We may consider adding analytics or advertising technologies as the business develops. Before activating them, we will update this policy and provide notice and consent controls where required.

12. Third-Party Links

The Service may link to websites or services we do not control. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, and we encourage you to review them.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service changes or as required by law. We will update the date above and provide additional notice when a change is material and applicable law requires it.
